Etruscan burial discovered in Tuscan village


An Etruscan burial of the Orientalising period (around the third quarter of the 7th century BC) has been discovered in the village of Baratti in the Italian province of Livorno (Tuscany).

The grave goods were laid out in the pit protected by a circle of stones. Among the more notable finds are two bucchero kylikes, a bucchero oenochoe, a cylindrical pyxis with lid, a kotyle and a miniature pyramidal aryballos.

The skeletal remains, probably of a woman, has been recovered to be studied.
