The site in the municipality of Barbarano Romano is steeped in history, tradition and nature and consists of a group of buildings dating back to around AD 1200, an Etruscan necropolis from the 6th-5th centuries and burials dating back to 700 BC.

The cycle of research and excavations began in 2015 with a collaboration agreement with the Virgil Academy in Rome and several American universities such as the University of Baylor Texas.

The discoveries have laid the foundations for the creation of a proper "Academic Archaeological Park" that will include a reconstruction of the interactions between human cultures and the natural environment.

The municipality celebrates the results achieved: "With great satisfaction we are turning new pages in the history of Barbarano and its territory", commented the Mayor Rinaldo Marchesi with pride.
