In addition to the amphorae, two lead anchors, some tiles and a long bilge tube above the amphorae have already been identified.

The find highlights the considerable importance in Roman times of ports of call such as the Cyclops islands, mentioned in the Aeneid.

"This is an important discovery that could give further prestige to our community as well as being a source for revival of tourism, providing the basis for the construction of an archaeological museum in Aci Trezza," said Councillor Tony Guarnera, "I sent a note to Councillor Sebastiano Romeo to initiate a series of contacts with the regional department to verify its feasibility. A note was also sent to the association Centro Studi Aci Trezza so that it can provide every support to the councillor, especially in terms of historical documentation".

Romeo agreed with Guarnera's proposal for making the Roman treasure available to all: "We are considering creating an archeosub site. It would be a unique opportunity for scholars and enthusiasts. We are also considering creating a second area at the castle of Aci to enrich the already existing archaeological collection".
