The Museum is located in the Chora of Kythera and aims to stimulate the visitors’ interest about the archaeological sites of Kythera and Antikythera.

It features antiquities from both islands covering a time span from 5000 BC to the 3rd century AD.

The exhibition highlights the cultural identity of the islands as it was shaped due to their special position at the “gate” of the Greek Archipelago and at the crossroads of the sea routs of Eastern Mediterranean.

The exhibition follows the suggestions of modern museology and aesthetics, serves the educational and recreational role of the museum thanks to the diverse visual material and the use of multimedia.

For the young visitors and their families museum kits and an educational back are available which turn the tour into a fascinating, amusing journey.
