Saman Heidari Gouran further remarked that excavations in Eshkaft Razavar are underway within a long-term plan for the reconstruction of life in prehistoric societies in one of the major regions of the Iranian plateau.

He said research works conducted in previous excavations resulted in the discovery of 265 caves and rock shelters in the neighbourhood of six cities in the western Kermanshah Province.

He further remarked that this season of excavations in Eshkaft Razavar have been concentrated on one of the largest prehistoric residential caves in the province.

Gouran noted that the interesting point in the excavations was the discovery of Middle and Late Palaeolithic layers together with the well-preserved hearths and stone tools.
